Flowers of War

A collaborative enamel work of art

The Shrine of Remembrance Melbourne Australia

Exhibition dates:  26 October 2018 – 31 October 2019

Flowers of War is a collaborative wreath created by Kristen Haydon, Elizabeth Turrell RWA and Neal Haslem. The project was first exhibited in progress at the Canterbury Museum in Christchurch NZ in 2017 and the Royal West of England Academy RWA in Bristol in March 2018

The wreath exhibits floral and leaf emblems of remembrance, inspired by those found on the battlefield and at home. Measuring over two metres in diameter and composed of more than 480 individual brooches. Flowers of War draws on stories of the First World War from local community achieves and museums that consider the many ways people reflect upon the past.

This project is supported by the Creative New Zealand WW100 Co-Commission Fund and RMIT University
